Luncheon: Hunter Brooks (’06) & Ryan Suddendorf (’08)

Ryan Suddendorf Co-Founder, VP Evergreens, Sigma Tau – Class of 2008 (BA Business Administration, Finance)

Ryan first took up cooking as a passion at an early age with his family. Growing up two of his close family friends were restaurateurs which sparked his desire to go into the restaurant and hospitality industry. Ryan, now has 10 years of restaurant experience to go along with his degree in Finance from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business. After the University, Ryan went to work for Simco Restaurant Group, in San Francisco. In 2012, Ryan left Simco Restaurant Group to open and run Copita Tequileria Y Comida in Sausalito, CA. In August 2012, he relocated back to Seattle to be with his now wife Morgan (a Gamma Phi), and worked for Compass Group as a Financial Controller. During his time at Compass Group, he reconnected with Hunter Brooks and friend Todd Fishman. Ryan teamed up with Hunter and Todd in 2013 to create the menu and develop the operations for Evergreens. He has been an integral part in running and creating efficient and scalable operations as Evergreens grew to its current 5 locations. These operations include a highly detailed training program as well as focusing heavily on managing vendor purchasing and seeking out local partnerships and products that fit the Evergreens mantra: fresh, local and all-natural food. His work with Evergreens goes outside the day to day business, and recently Ryan has made efforts to get further involved in the surrounding communities, as well as getting more heavily involved in the Seattle Restaurant Association. 



Luncheon: Tom Simpson (’82)

Tom Simpson has over 30 years of experience as an investment banker, venture capitalist, angel investor and entrepreneur. Currently, he focuses on working closely with emerging companies in the Spokane region to achieve growth and profitability.

Tom was co-founder and Chairman of etailz, a rapidly growing eCommerce company which was sold to Trans World Entertainment in 2016. He currently manages four angel funds focused on investing in emerging companies in the Inland Northwest and is President of the Spokane Angel Alliance, a 100 + member group.

Previously, he had been Managing Partner of NWVA. NWVA invested over $125 million in emerging companies throughout the Northwest. Prior to NWVA, Tom was a Managing Director in Dain Bosworth’s Seattle-based investment banking group and managed public offerings, private placements and mergers and acquisitions for multiple companies in the region. He began his career as a CPA for Deloitte, Haskins + Sells.

Tom serves on the board of directors of Berg Manufacturing, GenPrime, Stay Alfred, Sportscope and Telect.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington, and an MBA from The Wharton School and has served as an adjunct professor in Gonzaga University’s Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.

Tom and 13 other fiji’s set a world record in leapfrogging by leapfrogging around Greenlake (in 7 groups of 2 person teams) 215 times for a total of over 500 miles in 1981.

Tom has three children, is a private pilot and has participated in numerous triathlons.

Luncheon: Brad Cahill (’03)

For our February 14th luncheon at the Seattle Yacht Club, we are delighted to have another exceptional speaker, Brad Cahill, member of the Sigma Tau class of 2003. Over the past 13 years, Brad has built a career as one of the centerpieces in high end residential real estate brokerage in the greater Seattle area. After leaving the Brazen Group in Bellevue in 2006, Brad co-founded NWG Real Estate and never looked back. He is a Principal at his firm while also holding the title of Director of Resale with a focus on assisting buyers and sellers accomplish their real estate goals. We have all read about, and experienced the housing market tumult that we are currently undergoing. Brad will take us first hand through the last few years and update us on what he is seeing in the market place.
